Chaplaincy in the American Council of Christian Churches (ACCC)
HISTORY AND PURPOSE
In 1941 as WWII became evident and large numbers of Americans were deploying, smaller evangelical Bible believing denomination groups were granted the privilege to endorse ordained clergy to the military branches. That was the beginning of ACCC Chaplain endorsing. That was followed later with further endorsing to State and Federal prisons and to the Veteran Hospitals. We continue that privilege today.
Meet our current endorser: Retiring in November 1996 after actively serving 23 years in the Army Chaplain Corps, Dr. Chet Chapman accepted the invitation and responsibility as Chairman of the ACCC Chaplain Commission.

DO YOU QUALIFY? The following areas apply more to military chaplains:
1. SPIRITUAL: Ordained, approved and endorsed by a religious organization (or local church in some instances) recognized by the Department of Defense.
2. PHYSICAL: Weight, age and required physical standards. These may vary by both need and military branch. Chaplain recruiters offer current assistance here.
3. ACADEMIC: Undergraduate degree, M.Div or equivalent.
4. OTHER: Certain additional requirements may apply as per our constituted fellowships or denominations. Also, the ACCC endorses men to the State and Federal prison systems and to the Veteran Affairs (VA) Hospitals. Call for more information.
